Hamas and Fatah Explain What Their War Against Israel is All About, October 13, 2023 by

Why are the Islamic jihad groups fighting against Israel? Why do they think that committing the dismaying actions we saw in Israel on Saturday is the right, and indeed the righteous, thing to do?

As the death toll from Saturday’s jihad massacres in Israel continues to mount, the world looks on in horror at the atrocities that were committed — the wanton massacre of people at a peace concert, the beheaded babies, and so much more. It is hard for Americans and Europeans to fathom how or why any human beings would do such things.

Now, however, two jihad groups, including the one that was behind the massacres, Hamas, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah, have issued statements that clarify exactly what they think they’re doing. As you might expect, they both make for chilling reading.

The indispensable Palestinian Media Watch reported Monday that “a Telegram channel associated with Fatah’s military wing the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, is calling on Palestinians to slaughter Jews who they term ‘apes and pigs.’” That’s actually a reference to the Islamic holy book, the Qur’an, which, in three separate passages, refers to Allah punishing Sabbath-breaking Jews by transforming them into apes and pigs (2:53-65; 5:59-60; 7:166).

Fatah’s exhortation to jihad also includes this: “Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, and he will lay them low and give you victory over them, and he will heal the hearts of people who are believers.” That also is from the Qur’an (9:14) and expresses one of the biggest differences between Judaism and Christianity on the one hand and Islam on the other. While both the Jewish (Deuteronomy 32:35) and Christian (Romans 12:19) traditions say that vengeance for wrongdoing is up to God, and not for any individual to pursue, the Qur’an tells Muslims that they are to be the executors of the wrath of Allah: he will punish errant human beings by the hands of the followers of Muhammad.

This is how the jihadis who killed Israeli civilians wholesale on Saturday could do so while believing they were doing nothing less than carrying out the will of the one and only God. They believe those whom they killed to be enemies of Allah and the Muslims, and consequently to have deserved everything they got, and more.

Fatah’s communiqué is thus packed with Qur’anic references, as if to emphasize that as far as Muslims are concerned, the murder of Israeli civilians is a holy struggle. That’s why Muslims across the world have joyfully celebrated the attacks instead of expressing revulsion at their bloody excesses. So when Fatah calls upon Muslims to “strike the sons of apes of pigs, kill everyone who is a settler, slaughter everyone who is Israeli,” it not only has no qualms about issuing such a broad-based call for murder but knows this call will resonate with many other believers throughout the world.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif hailed the beginning of what he called “Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge.” He said that the massacres of that day were just the “first strike,” and that much more was coming. Deif declared: “I say to the masses of the people and our nation, and to the free people of the world: Today, the wrath of Al-Aqsa has exploded – the rage of our people, our nation, and the free people of the world. I say to our pure mujahideen: This is the day that you make this criminal enemy understand that its time is up. ‘Kill them wherever you may find them.’” That also was a quotation from the Qur’an (2:191, 4:89, cf. 9:5).

These documents of Hamas and Fatah are nothing new. Hamas and its allies always speak of their conflict with Israel in Islamic theological terms; yet this is the one aspect of the conflict that Western policymakers never take into consideration.

Qatar, Iran, Turkey and beyond: The galaxy of Hamas supporters

Hamas has maintained ties with several regional powers and organisations in the Middle East since its creation in 1987. Whether it comes to financing, military aid or ideological support, the Palestinian Islamist movement can count on several allies in its deadly fight with Israel.

After Hamas’s deadly attack on Israel on October 7, the countries and organisations that support the Palestinian Islamist movement are under scrutiny. Algeria, Iran, Sudan and Tunisia have openly expressed support for Hamas in recent days. Classified as a terrorist organisation by the United States, the European Union and Israel, Hamas has established strong links with several regional powers since its creation in 1987.

Whether from Doha, Tehran or Ankara, support for Hamas comes in various forms: economic, military and ideological. FRANCE 24 examines the movement's links with several foreign states.

Qatar's financial and political ties to Hamas

Doha is a key financial backer of Hamas. “Their financial support of $30 million per month is proven and public,” said Didier Billion, deputy director of the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS). “These payments are justified to pay civil servants in Gaza, and we know perfectly well that the latter are members of Hamas. Doha’s money is therefore the equivalent of direct support for this organisation which has held the Palestinian enclave with an iron fist for many years.”

Advertising

The financial support began five years ago to avoid “a major humanitarian crisis in Gaza”, as the French newspaper Libération reported in 2018. The first payment of $15 million arrived in three large suitcases brought into Gaza through the Israeli border crossing at Erez, in the north of the enclave. Qatar’s envoy to Gaza, Mohammed al-Emadi, also known as the unofficial intermediary between the Gaza Strip, Doha and Israel, delivered the cash.

These cash transfers took place with the approval of the Israelis and the international community, reported The Times of Israel on October 8. According to the news site, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank – bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group”. Furthermore, “most of the time, Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset”.

Qatar's links with Hamas are not only financial but also political. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh has resided mostly in Doha since 2012, and the political bureau of the Islamist movement is located in the Qatari capital. The small emirate’s “dangerous game” does not end there, said Myriam Benraad, Middle East expert and professor of international relations at the Schiller International University. “In addition to hosting certain prominent leaders of Hamas’s political branch, Doha also immediately positioned itself as a negotiator on the issue of Israeli hostages in recent days. This indirectly boosts the role of the small Gulf monarchy.”

The international community is also well aware of Qatar’s influence on Hamas. Germany, for example, on Thursday called on Qatar to play “an important role” for the release of the hostages, “because they have communication channels that we don’t have”.

Iran's 'Axis of Resistance'

Iran, one of the regional powers in the Middle East, also maintains close ties with Hamas. There are “two levels” in the relationship between Tehran and the Islamist movement, according to Billion. “On a public level, Iran supports the Palestinian national cause, with marked support for Hamas.” In effect, Iran forms – along with Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement and the Lebanese group Hezbollah – the so-called “Axis of Resistance” against Israel. This is one of the fundamental components of Iranian foreign policy in the Middle East.

“The second level is not public: It is either financial or logistical aid from the Revolutionary Guards,” said Billion. Haniyeh revealed in an early 2022 interview with Al Jazeera that Iran paid a total of $70 million to the Palestinian group. Tehran more generally finances all Palestinian armed groups to the tune of $100 million per year, according to a report by the US State Department published in 2020.

“Military support is provided through the transfer of Iranian technology,” said Wassim Nasr, a FRANCE 24 journalist specialized in jihadist movements. “This consists of providing expertise in producing drones and modifying civilian drones into military drones. But it can also mean delivering munitions and weapons that pass through the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.”

The nature of the ties between Hamas and Iran has led certain international news sources to point out Tehran's responsibility for the October 7 attack. The Wall Street Journal in an article on October 8 claimed that “Iran helped plot an attack on Israel over several weeks”. The Iranian regime, for its part, denied any involvement in the attack and spoke of “false rumours”.

“It is too early to establish all the responsibilities for this attack,” said Benraad, adding the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation, the name Hamas gave its offensive, could increase tensions in the region. “Iran has indirectly confronted Israel for many years, and the Hamas attack will reinforce this pattern.”

Turkey gives 'rhetorical support'

“A few NGOs provide humanitarian aid” in Gaza, but Ankara provides “mostly rhetorical support” to Hamas, said Nasr. Turkey has a long-standing tradition of supporting the Palestinian cause. Its president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reiterated his support last July when he said, “establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders based on UN parameters is essential for the peace and stability of our entire region".

Compared to Qatar and Iran, Turkey’s support is more “political” than financial or military, said Billion. Furthermore, the Turkish government has not only maintained ties with Hamas, but also with the Palestinian Authority, with Erdogan welcoming the leaders of both to Ankara last July.

Yet, “Turkey has repeatedly rolled out the red carpet for Hamas in recent years,” said the deputy director of IRIS. The occasional visits to Ankara by Haniyeh, who is living in voluntary exile between Qatar and Turkey, are also a factor.

After the October 7 attack, Ankara tried to act as a mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Erdogan first called on Israel and Hamas to “support peace”, then condemned the “shameful methods” of Israel as part of its military response towards the Gaza Strip. An official source told AFP and Reuters on October 11 that Turkey was carrying out negotiations aimed at securing the release of civilians kidnapped during the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation.

Egyptian roots, troubled ties

The links between Egypt and Hamas are historical – the Palestinian movement is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamic organisation founded in Egypt in 1928. These ties weakened in 2013 when the Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi came to power in a coup against democratically elected Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In the recent past, Hamas took advantage of tunnels bypassing the Egyptian border towards Gaza, illegally importing necessities, construction materials and even weapons. The Egyptian authorities later closed most of the tunnels. Cairo slightly changed its position beginning in 2018 by allowing some commercial goods into Gaza. Hamas collected more than $12 million in taxes per month in 2021 on these goods, according to US think tank Council on Foreign Relations.

After the Hamas attack on Ocotber 7, Cairo positioned itself as a mediator in the conflict, like Ankara. Egypt, the first Arab country to recognise the existence of Israel in 1979, is also the only opening to the world for Gaza, via the Rafah border post located in the south of the Palestinian enclave.

Hezbollah 'fully prepared' to intervene

Lebanese Hezbollah, for its part, does not intend to mediate between Israel and Hamas after the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. The Shiite Islamist movement said Friday that it was "fully prepared" to intervene against Israel in due course, during a demonstration in support of Palestinians in Beirut. “Hezbollah’s first ties with Hamas date back to the 1990s, when leaders of the Palestinian Islamist movement were expelled to an area of southern Lebanon where Hezbollah was present,” said FRANCE 24's Nasr.

Since this period, Hezbollah has maintained strong ties with Hamas, even if the two organisations have experienced differing points of view – especially during the civil war in Syria in 2011. In recent months, Hezbollah and Hamas are likely to have met in Beirut on multiple occasions with representatives of Islamic Jihad and the Iranian Al-Quds Force – “the Axis of Resistance” in short. Their objective was to “carefully plan the offensive in Israel”, according to French-language newspaper in Lebanon The Orient Le Jour.

Billion is more cautious: “I don’t know anything about what was discussed, but it is important to understand that these different groups have an ideological-political proximity and a convergence upon the necessary fight against [Israel].”

Why There Is Never Peace Between Israel and the Palestinians, Robert Spencer

In its analysis of the war that has begun between Hamas and Israel, CNN noted on Saturday that the Biden regime was just in the process of pressuring Israel to make a series of concessions to the Palestinians in order to further the cause of normalization of ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia. In this, both the sinister establishment media propagandists of CNN and the sinister kleptocrats of the Biden regime betrayed their fundamental failure, or refusal, to understand why there is this apparently endless conflict between Israel and the Palestinians in the first place.

CNN reported that “as recently as this week, Biden had hoped to be nearing the completion of a major agreement with Israel and Saudi Arabia to establish formal diplomatic ties, potentially transforming the entire Middle East. The expectation had been that the deal would include agreement from Netanyahu on certain concessions to the Palestinians, including potentially freezing settlements and agreeing to an eventual Palestinian state.”

The universal assumption is that freezing settlements and agreeing to a Palestinian state (which the Palestinians have previously rejected on numerous occasions) will bring peace. Yet this is not true, and the Palestinians themselves have made that clear on numerous occasions over the years. Back on Oct. 5, 2018, on “Not a Neighbor,” a program on official Palestinian Authority television, Sharia judge Muhannad Abu Rumi denounced the idea that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was about territory and could thus be subject to negotiations:

People could be deluded or think…that we have no way out with the Jews…The liberation of this land is a matter of faith, which will happen despite everyone. The Jews leaving this land is a divine decree…The war is not only over this strip of land, as you all know the Jews want everything and not just a part. They want to subjugate us, and that we be slaves to their command…

Just a week after that, during a Friday sermon at the Islamic Center of South Florida, Imam Hasan Sabri offered a succinct encapsulation of the principle of “Drive them out from where they drove you out” (Qur’an 2:191): “If a land is occupied or plundered, it should be liberated from its occupiers and plunderers, even if this leads to the martyrdom of tens of millions of Muslims.”

Sabri ridiculed the very idea of negotiations: “Take the Palestinian cause, for example. It is not being plotted against with a deal they call ‘the Deal of the Century.’ Why do they call it a ‘deal’? Because whoever is involved in this treason is not a man of principles. These are peddlers, not men with a cause. All they want are positions and jobs. That is why for them, the cause is nothing but a deal, a matter of give and take. For them, it is nothing but a deal.”

To this, Sabri contrasted the “position of a believing Muslim about the Palestinian cause,” which he characterized in this way: “That Palestine in its entirety is Islamic land, and there is no difference between what was occupied in 1948 and 1967. There is no difference between this village or that village, this city or that city. All of it is Islamic waqf land that was occupied by force. The responsibility for it lies with the entire Islamic nation, and the [Palestinians] should benefit from this land. If a land is occupied or plundered, it should be liberated from the occupiers and plunderers, even if this leads to the martyrdom of tens of millions of Muslims. This is the ruling, and there is no room for discussion or concessions.”

Related: What Went Wrong? How Hamas Managed to Stagger Israel

There is no room for discussion or concessions because of the nature of the foe as they communicate it to their people. An Egyptian Muslim cleric, Sheikh Masoud Anwar, on Al-Rahma TV on Jan. 9, 2009, also stated that negotiations with the Israelis were worthless because Jews could not be trusted. He declared: “The worst enemies of the Muslims — after Satan — are the Jews. Who said this? Allah did.” Indeed he did: it’s in the Qur’an (5:82).

Numerous Muslim clerics have for many years contradicted the general assumption that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict was over land and could be settled through negotiations. As Barack Obama pressed Israel to resume peace talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, in the summer of 2013, Sheikh Hammam Saeed, the leader of the Jordanian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, thundered that eradicating all Jewish presence from the Holy Land was a matter of Islamic law. He termed the idea of a negotiated settlement “heresy, according to Islamic law, because Allah says that Palestine belongs to the Islamic nation, while they say that Palestine belongs to the Jews. Anyone who says that Palestine belongs to the Jews has no place in the religion of Allah, and no room in this creed. This is an issue of heresy and belief.”

Examples of this kind of rhetoric could be multiplied endlessly. Yet in the next few days, Biden and his cohorts will demand that Israel stop defending itself and return to the negotiating table. You know, some men you just can’t reach.

Immigration Made Australia a Tolerant Place Where Muslims Chant ‘Gas the Jews’ Outside the Sydney Opera House

“A man clutching an Israeli flag was dragged away by three police officers for ‘disrupting the peace'”

Immigration was supposed to make Australia a more multicultural and tolerant place. It’s not working out as planned.

Pro-Palestinian protesters were allowed to chant ‘gas the Jews’ and burn the Star of David in front of Sydney’s Opera House on Monday night – while a counter-demonstrator was arrested for attempting to fly the Israeli flag.

Police are now under fire for allowing the rally to go ahead – while telling Jewish Australians to ‘stay home’ for their own safety.

The rally, organised by the Palestine Action Group Sydney, saw vast numbers of pro-Palestine activists gather at Town Hall in Sydney’s CBD on Monday evening before marching to the Opera House where its sails were it up in blue and white in support of Israel.

In the end, the sails were only lit up for a short time and in muted colours.

Israeli supporters largely stayed away, with some watching the illumination from the other side of Circular Quay.

Cries of ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is great in Arabic) and ‘death to the Jews’ rang out as some members of the crowd swarmed towards the police barrier, brandishing torn pieces of the Israeli flag – despite the rally organisers calling for protesters to respect the police.

Over 100 cops formed a ring of steel along the steps of the Opera House and didn’t intervene when flares or other projectiles were thrown at them.

Instead, they placed the lit flares in buckets of water as acrid smoke filled the air.

As protesters arrived at Town Hall earlier in the evening, a man clutching an Israeli flag was dragged away by three police officers for ‘disrupting the peace’ – before he even had a chance to unfurl it.

In an video of the incident taken by Daily Mail Australia, the man can be heard repeatedly saying ‘I’ve done nothing wrong’.

An officer told him: ‘You’ve been arrested in relation to a breach of the peace.’

In total, Daily Mail Australia witnessed three individuals attempt to fly an Israeli flag before being chased away by protesters or arrested by the police ‘for their own safety’.

Abigail Lane, 23, a social care student originally from Tasmania, had an Israeli flag with the word ‘peace’ taken from her by police.

‘A police officer came and snatched it out of my hands and said: “Why the hell are you going in there with that sign? What the hell do you think you’re doing?”,’ she said.

There’s free speech for Muslims to call for the murder of Jews. Anyone else had better run for their lives.

Mark Leach, an Anglican clergyman, posted about being chased away from the Anglican Cathedral.

This afternoon, in Sydney, I briefly waved an Israeli flag off to the side of a pro Palestian protest. I was on the steps of the Anglican Cathedral. I am an Anglican clergyman. I am the child of a German Jewish mother who fled the holocaust. I wanted to make a small stand against the genocidal hatred of Hamas being supported by the pro Palestinian mob. I wanted to show the Jews of Australia that Christians (who after all are simply followers of a Jew), would stand for them, and for Israel, in the face of such hatred and contempt. On this afternoon I was chased off the steps of the Cathedral. I ran, followed by a small mob of large angry Muslims hurling abuse at me. I ran onto George St and hid behind a police van.

This is what happens when a country is invaded and overrun. And I’m not talking about Israel here. You can have freedom, tolerance and multiculturalism. But not with Islam in the mix.

Civilian and Military Deaths in Israel and in Gaza

1. On October 9 at 10 a.m. EST, Israel announced that more than 800 Israelis had been killed. At the same time, the IDF announced that 73 soldiers had been killed to date. In other words, close to 90% of those murdered by Hamas were civilians. So among Israeli casualties, to date we have a civilian-to-military ratio of roughly 9-1.

2. In Gaza, the ratio went the other way — many more terrorists were killed than civilians. Elder of Ziyon has done a “back-of-the-envelope” calculation here: “Back of the envelope calculation: Terrorist to civilian casualty ratio in Gaza, day 1, about 5-1, Elder of Ziyon, October 9, 2023:

He comes to the conclusion that as of the morning of Oct. 9, the ratio of terrorist fighters to civilians killed was 5 to 1.

The so-called “Palestinian Center for Human Rights” always tries to list all the casualties of every Gaza conflict – but they slavishly adhere to Hamas’ rules not to list any dead terrorists, only people they can credibly claim to be civilians.

Their report for the first day of fighting says that the Gaza Ministry of Health claimed 256 Gazans killed in Israeli airstrikes

But they list only about 60 deaths – meaning that they know that 200 of those killed were terrorists.

If that was the ratio of terrorists to civilians, it would already be amazing for an urban war. But that is not the whole story.

Because certainly some of the families killed were human shields for terrorist leaders. And Israel did target Hamas leaders’ houses and offices…

In Israel, Saturday was a day of mass murder. Hamas terrorists flooded into Israel from Gaza through the breaches they had managed to make in the security fence and began killing everyone they ran across, in the streets, inside houses and cars, and at a music festival, where 260 people were slaughtered. And 90% of those they killed were civilians.

In Gaza, the IAF made its usual efforts to minimize civilian casualties. It hit Hamas weapons hideouts, command-and-control centers, terror tunnels, rocket launch sites, and buildings where Hamas leaders lived. The IAF sent warnings, by Short Message Service (SMS), telephoning, and the “knock-on-the-roof” technique, to people living in or near buildings about to be targeted. But inevitably there were some civilians who did not heed the warnings. And in special cases, where it was important not to alert the target, they were not warned. For example, Israel wanted to hit the houses where Hamas leaders lived, in order to decapitate the leadership, and so the IAF refrained from warning the inhabitants of those houses, though certainly some of those inside,, including the wives and children of the targets, were civilians.

Hamas had announced, by Oct. 9 at 12 noon, that 500 people had been killed in Gaza so far, but it carefully refrained from publicizing their names, because it wants the world to believe that they were almost all civilians. In fact, what should amaze the world is how few Gazans, civilians and military, have been killed. Israel had by noon EST on Oct. 9 conducted more than 1000 air attacks in Gaza. That means there was only one Gazan death for every two Israeli attacks. And of those, if we assume that the military-to-civilian ratio of Palestinian deaths remained the same on Oct. 9 as on the first day of Israel’s response, then there were a total of 80 Palestinian civilians who have died so far.

Compare that number — 80 Palestinian civilians killed — with the 800 Israelis, at least 727 of them civilians, who have been killed so far.

Colorado: Openly Marxist state representative joins pro-jihad rally during Hamas massacres of Israeli civilians

For background on the Marxist Hernández, see here. Meanwhile, the claim that no one at the pro-jihad rally was pro-Hamas is silly. There is no action for “Palestinian human rights” that doesn’t display open and gleeful support for Hamas jihadis and other forces of like mind.

“Rookie legislator reprimanded for supporting Palestine in wake of attacks,” by Carol McKinley, Denver Gazette, October 9, 2023:

Hours after the terrorist organization Hamas launched a surprise holiday attack on Israel, Colorado Rep. Tim Hernández joined around three dozen participants at a rally at the state Capitol and waved a Palestinian flag.

The Palestine Solidarity Rally was described in a flyer as “An Emergency protest for Palestinian Resistance.” It appeared to be organized by the Colorado Palestinian Coalition.

Hernández’s place among the crowd may have gone unnoticed except that it was caught by television cameras gathering footage of the event.

Almost immediately, lawmakers on both sides jumped on Hernández’ action.

“He voiced his approval of the slaughter of innocent people,” said Rep. Lisa Frizell, R-Castle Rock. “I find that to be contrary to anything that I hold dear.”

There is no rule that prohibits legislative house members from participating in a rally or protest. Still, Frizell bemoaned Hernández’s “absence of decorum,” saying she doesn’t believe he “respects the institution he was appointed to.”

But Rep. Iman Jodeh, D-Aurora, said it is unfair to single out Hernandez for “expressing his beliefs that all people should be afforded human rights.” She pointed out that there has been “massive precedent” of other elected officials who have also attended rallies, voicing opinions on the west steps of the state Capitol during the repeal of Roe v. Wade and most recently when conflicts arose in Sudan and Ethiopia.

“Let me be clear,” Jodeh said. “As far as I know, no one held that rally for Hamas. People were rallying for Palestinian human rights.” To equate Hernández’ actions with Hamas, she said, is “reckless.”…

Islamic Republic of Iran officials helped plan Hamas’ jihad attacks on Israel over several weeks

An act of war bankrolled with six billion dollars from Old Joe Biden and his sinister, traitorous regime.

“Iran Helped Plot Attack on Israel Over Several Weeks,” by Summer Said, Benoit Faucon and Stephen Kalin, Wall Street Journal, October 8, 2023:

DUBAI—Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday, according to senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, another Iran-backed militant group….

Ilhan Omar accuses Israel, not Hamas, of ‘war crime,’ urges US to cut off weapons sales

Ilhan Omar clearly wants to see Hamas victorious, which would result in the murders of millions of Israelis.

“Ilhan Omar stokes outrage with plea against sending US weapons to back ‘war crime’ in Israel,” by Ryan King, New York Post, October 9, 2023:

Rep. Ilhan Omar elicited outrage Monday with a public entreaty for the US to shift from giving Israel “unconditional weapons sales and military aid” to diplomacy.

Omar (D-Minn.) — a member of the so-called “Squad” — also harped on the plight of the Palestinians and suggested that Israel’s retaliation against terrorist group Hamas might be a “war crime.”

“The Israeli Defense Minister has called Palestinians ‘human animals’ and promised to cut off all electricity, all food, and all fuel to civilians in Gaza,” Omar wrote in a lengthy threat on X, formerly Twitter.

“This is collective punishment, a war crime, and the U.S. should oppose any violations of international law if we truly support a rules-based international order,” she continued.

The 41-year-old congresswoman who’s long been a vocal critic of Israel’s settlement policies and defender of the Palestinians, further argued, “the solution to this horror, as ever, is a negotiated peace.”

“Instead of continuing unconditional weapons sales and military aid to Israel, I urge the United States at long last to use its diplomatic might to push for peace,” she stressed.

Her remarks struck a nerve among detractors who ripped her call for peace just after the deadly attack on Israel that has killed well over 1,000.

“Israel was just brutally attacked by terrorists, funded by Iran, and you want to cut off funding and military aid and equipment,” Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) fired back.

“You are out of your mind and unfit to serve in the House of Representatives. This is why you were removed from the Foreign Affairs committee.”…

‘Worse than ISIS’: Hamas jihadis behead Israeli soldiers in ‘sickening footage’

Few outlets are revealing the truth about the similarities in modus operandi between Hamas and the Islamic State as Israel begins its defensive war against Hamas. An article in the Express, Worse than ISIS’: Hamas terrorists ‘behead Israeli soldiers’ in sickening footage, states:

Hamas has released footage of them beheading captured soldiers. We will not share it, but the world needs to know their depravity exceeds that of ISIS. And we have been telling you all for years.

The latest figures are that Hamas has murdered 900 people, injured over 2,600 and has taken hostage at least 100 civilians and soldiers. The lack of news articles examining the similarities between Hamas and ISIS may be due at least in part to the fact that ISIS is established globally as a savage jihad group, while many have been indoctrinated with the wrongheaded view that support for Hamas is part of a Palestinian “resistance” against injustice. Another reality is the serious fact that far too many organizations (and their offshoots) that are now operating in Western countries are affiliated with Hamas. The Investigative Project provides a list of the names and groups of these affiliated groups, most of which were named unindicted co-conspirators in the largest terrorist funding trial in the history of the United States, the Holy Land Foundation trial. Jihad Watch has also been warning for years that striking at the neck is a Qur’anic command, obeyed by jihadists everywhere, so much that it has become their signature deed…

Now when you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks until, when you have subdued them, then make fast the bonds, and afterward either generosity or ransom until the war lays down its burdens. That, and if Allah willed, he could have punished them, but so that he may test some of you by means of others. And those who have been killed in the way of Allah, he does not make their actions useless. — Qur’an 47:4

When your Lord inspired the angels, I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then strike the necks and strike their fingertips. — Qur’an 8:12

The Express also reported:

In a statement, the Israel Defence Forces said: “Hamas has released footage of them beheading captured soldiers. We will not share it, but the world needs to know their depravity exceeds that of ISIS. And we have been telling you all for years.

“May the precious souls of our men and women be in our hearts forever.”

Israel’s President Herzog also stated that “Hamas has imported, adopted, and replicated the savagery of ISIS.

Defenders of and apologists for the violent Palestinian jihad (aka the “resistance”) have now infiltrated to the highest levels in America, Canada and other Western nations. They have risen up by the thousands in anti-semitic, hateful protests full of incitement to violence. This incitement is increasing as Israel defends itself. All over the West, the people as well as the leaders have fallen short in understanding the danger in their midst, as Islam has been portrayed as a “religion of peace” since 9/11. (Once again, this is not to say that all Muslims ascribe to Sharia dictates on jihad, but a problematic and significant number do.) Although crackdowns upon speech or actions that offend Islam have become commonplace in Western societies, intimidating and hateful protests against the world’s lone, tiny Jewish state are tolerated and allowed to continue.

Aside from the obvious threats facing Israel, the West continues to be under the same ongoing jihad threat. That threat has been growing due to reckless immigration policies, as globalist leaders have welcomed in multitudes of aggressive, anti-semitic and anti-Western Palestinian sympathizers. They have also enabled infiltration by a range of jihadists everywhere. Many Leftists see no problem with all this. Fox News reported about Donald Trump’s renewed warning to Biden about America being “invaded,” and “terrorists”  being “already inside the US.” It is only a matter of time before we see severe consequences of this.

The Islamic Fifth Column

People all over the world have been watching the events in Israel the past few days with what is, for many, an overwhelming sense of surprise, anger, and outrage at the actions of the Islamic terrorist group Hamas’s invasion of Israeli towns, and its attacks upon and murders of innocent Jewish men, women, and children. Anyone with their moral compass functioning even partially have viewed such attacks with disgust and rage.

Unfortunately, however, this is not the case for many more around the world, who have not only supported such actions, but have delighted in them and openly called for more. We have all seen the pro- “Palestinian” rallies in the United States and Europe in support of Hamas terror. But what in America? Do such people exist here? Sadly, I can say that they do. And even more scary, they are the leaders of their communities.

When I was a Muslim, I attended the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, also known as Masjid an-Nasr. At the time of my conversion in February 2001, the ISGOC was led by Imam Suhaib Webb, a white convert to Islam who has become a very well-known player in Muslim community in the United States. What would he say about all of this, you may ask? Well, he did tell me. I asked him once after a suicide bombing about Hamas and the role of suicide in Islam. He said to me that indeed Islam forbids suicide, but the Palestinians weren’t committing suicide in order to kill themselves; their intention was to kill Israelis, even if their sacrifice resulted in their own deaths. This was allowed, for as Suhaib claimed, it was the only weapon they had against Israel. This claim seems kind of odd now, after the world has seen the video of parachuting jihadists with automatic rifles and rockets entering Israel to massacre civilians wholesale. Suhaib even advised me not to tell the media such things, because they would not understand.

Suhaib left the ISGOC in 2002 to study overseas at al-Azhar in Egypt, another bastion of love for Israel. A Lebanese Muslim named Imaad Enchassi took over as imam. He was much more open about his views. He once claimed during a Friday khutbah (sermon) that the Israelis were trying to collapse the al-Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem by digging tunnels underneath them. He said this, but provided no evidence, which was met with anger by the Muslims attending the Friday prayer. In fact, Israel was trying to keep the mosques and Temple Mount from collapsing due to irresponsible and shoddy drilling and construction by Muslims on the site.

This wasn’t all. A guest speaker was once invited to give a lecture at Oklahoma Christian University, and was confronted by members of an Israel-supporting Baptist church about Islam’s support of terrorism. The speaker merely claimed the Islam did not allow compulsion in religion, citing the Quran in surah 2:256, which doesn’t apply to the question of terrorism unless the terrorists are forcing people to convert to Islam. There is no indication that Hamas did that as they were massacring people in Israel on Saturday. I found the claim odd, as I had asked the speaker about Hamas as well, and he had also claimed terror committed by Hamas against Israel was legitimate.

Islam teaches terror, Muhammad lived by the sword, and so do many if those who follow Islam. All it takes is for them to take their religion seriously, and it puts us all in danger. One lit fuse, and you have the next Hamas, Islamic Jihad, ISIS, al-Shabaab, or al-Qaeda terrorist. And when that happens, any rear-kissing, overtones of coexistence, and brotherly love from the useful idiots of our countries will be silenced in a pool of the  blood of innocent men, women, and children. Let what happened in Israel serve as a warning to us all.

Australia: Muslims drive around Melbourne Jewish neighborhood ‘looking for Jews to kill’

The Jews in the Qur’an are called the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).

Hamas-linked CAIR serves as a tool for the Left in Oklahoma

As has been discussed at Jihad Watch previously, the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) uses its media access to attack individual people or things on TV at a current rate of four times a month. These incidents vary in degree of severity and outrage, but are steadily increasing in frequency every year. This past August, CAIR hit two targets on one broadcast. CAIR put out slanderous misinformation about PragerU videos, and then tried to inflame an already potentially explosive situation involving Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Ryan Walters.

After Superintendent Ryan Walters allowed teachers the option to use videos produced by PragerU in the classroom, CAIR started a media campaign to denounce both PragerU and Walters himself.

But even after four separate broadcasts, we still do not know exactly what CAIR’s objections to PragerU videos are. CAIR representatives claim that the videos are “skewed,” “inappropriate,” “slanted,” “not entirely accurate,” and “far from reality,” but rarely give concrete examples. In a KOKH broadcast, CAIR’s Adam Soltani says:

PragerU is definitely skewed toward a political and Christian nationalist white-savior that is not beneficial to minorities of any background here in Oklahoma.

PragerU describes itself as promoting

American values through the creative use of educational videos that reach millions of people online. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Prager University Foundation (“PragerU”) offers a free alternative to the dominant left-wing ideology in culture, media, and education.

News reports will frequently mention that PragerU is not an accredited university, but then neither are various groups that provide optional teaching material for public schools, including PBS, Unity Productions, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Thus lack of accreditation is not the issue here; the problem CAIR has is with one of the presenters, Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

According to her bio at PragerU,

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a women’s rights activist, champion of free speech, political refugee, and best-selling author. Ayaan’s journey began in Somalia in 1969 where, as a young girl raised in a devout Muslim culture, she was subjected to female genital mutilation. In 2004 Ayaan gained international attention following the murder of Theo van Gogh. Van Gogh had directed her short film Submission, a film about the oppression of women under Islam. The assassin left a death threat for her pinned to Van Gogh’s chest.

However, she does not dwell on her personal experiences in the PragerU videos. When she brings up her disinvitation from Brandeis University, she does not mention that it was CAIR’s doing. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is entitled to her opinion, and some people might want to hear what she has to say. But CAIR does not want you to hear what she say to say, and would much prefer you to get their permission before associating with Ms. Hirsi Ali in public.

The only other PragerU video mentioned in a broadcast is “Egypt: Bishoy Chooses Bravery.” Here once again is Adam Soltani, CAIR-OK’s Executive Director, from a KOKH Fox 25 story, “Big Story Breakdown Crisis in the classroom“:

These are five-minute videos and you cannot tell the story of a complex and complicated relationship between two of the major world religions in a country like Egypt, and any other country in the Middle East, or the world, in a five-minute snippet.

Of course, that is not what the video is doing. It is a fictional story of a Christian Egyptian boy who does not let religious discrimination hold him back from joining a Muslim soccer team. He makes the team, everybody is friends, and the video does not vilify anyone. There is even a happy ending.

Oklahoma State University lists Soltani as Adjunct Instructor of Islamic Studies at OSU. It would be interesting to audit some of Soltani’s courses to see what he thinks an unbiased presentation of Christian persecution in Egypt looks like.

CAIR is not the only one angry at Ryan Walters. As superintendent, Walters is not just trying to salvage the captured institution of public schools; he is also taking on the corrupt media. “How Oklahoma’s schools superintendent became the state’s top culture warrior,” by Tyler Kingkade, NBC News, August 23, 2023

A top aide for Walters warned in emails to staff that anyone caught leaking to the press would be fired. It turned out to be a trap; each of the 400 emails were unique. Walters received a round of applause when he described the operation at a June 7 OCPAC meeting, according to video of the event. He said the department caught “dozens” of leakers.”

In the style of Donald Trump, Ryan Walters is calling the corrupt media out for what it is. “Oklahoma superintendent says he was targeted in Union Schools bomb threats,” by Jackson Walker, The National Desk, September 7, 2023:

Bomb threats against public schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma, continued to pour in on Tuesday as right-wing indignation over a satirical TikTok video posted earlier this month by a local educator enters its second week.

Large numbers of students have reportedly stayed home in the wake of the threats, which set the city of just over 400,000 on edge.

At the same time, the state’s 38-year-old Superintendent of Public Instruction—who helped stoke outrage over the supposed intentions of a “woke” school librarian—now stands accused of ignoring ongoing child abuse allegedly taking place right under his nose.

“I was the target of some of the bomb threats, my personal residence,” he told TND. “The local media here conveniently left that part out. It was just telling half the story to try to connect me [to the bomb threats], when in reality, I was targeted with threats as well.”

The omission, Walters said, helped aid the advancement of a belief that he was to blame for the threats.

“I think it’s absurd,” Walters said of claims he was to blame for the threats. “This is just the gaslighting they do and trying to and push us conservatives into a corner and drive a fake narrative. It amazes me at the lengths they’ll go to try to defend their left-wing position.” –

So it was against the backdrop of a week-long series of bomb threats against Ryan Walters and Oklahoma schools that Adam Soltani got on TV to talk about his feelings and call out Ryan Walters by name.

I would want Ryan Walters to know he is really playing with the lives and the emotions of people in our state.

There are numerous examples of CAIR inciting, or being involved in incitement, resulting in rape threats, tears, peaceful towns divided, riots, and a terrorist incident.

There is no other group on Earth that gets on TV as often as CAIR to place someone’s position or safety at risk. And it is no accident that KOKH let Adam Soltani speak against Ryan Walters on behalf of the people of Oklahoma.

During the station’s deep dive, or “Big Story Breakdown” as KOKH calls it, it took a look at the background of PragerU, as well as Ryan Walters, and even passed along the rumor that Walters was under FBI investigation. But there was no examination of CAIR at all.

Ryan Walters is CAIR’s thirty-fourth target this year. If the pattern holds true, there will be 48 such incidents before the year ends.

Hamas murdered around 40 babies and young children in one Israeli community, beheaded at least some of the babies

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks…” (Qur’an 47:4)

“‘It smells of death here’: Surveying the atrocities committed by Hamas in Kfar Aza,” by Nicole Zedek, i24News, October 10, 2023:

Israeli soldiers encounter unimaginable horrors are they remove the bodies of dozens of victims, including about 40 babies — some with their heads chopped off

Press were invited on Tuesday to survey the scene of devastation in Kfar Aza, the community massacred by Hamas terrorist infiltrators, as the IDF continues to remove bodies of victims from the homes where they were murdered.

For the first time the Israeli army let media channels into one of the massacred communities, in this case Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where plumes of smoke can be seen rising in the Gaza Strip, which lies less than a quarter of a mile away.

The community’s cars, parked outside, were completely torched. And it was just a small part of the destruction, with no exact number yet of how many people were murdered, as bodies are still being collected and removed from the homes.

The smell of death — that’s what’s left of a once vibrant community. Now, the foreign press were invited to witness the inhumane crimes, much like the Allies had done after they had won the second World War and liberated the Holocaust concentration camps. Upwards of 70 armed terrorists invaded the community, their bodies are still lying on the ground for the whole world to see the cruelty these Hamas terrorists committed.

“It’s not a war, it’s not a battlefield. You see the babies, the mother, the father, in their bedrooms, in their protection rooms, and how the terrorists killed them,” IDF Major General Itai Veruv first described the scene. “It’s a massacre.”

Being on the border, Kfar Aza is still an active, with IDF soldiers operating in the area, on alert for any potentially remaining terrorists. In addition, rockets continue to fly overhead, and the boom of mortars, for which there is no alert siren. Artillery can be heard in the background on the border fence. Even the terrorists’ vehicles are still here, and possibly booby trapped with grenades or explosives.

But first, the army unit is dedicating itself to removing the bodies of the Israeli civilians. We can see them covered in sheets being carried out of their own homes where they were murdered. The IDF does not have a definitive number of victims yet.

Many soldiers were called up for reserve service, and could be seen actively consoling each other after what they had to witness. They arrived expecting the worst, but the scenes are beyond anything that one could imagine. Some soldiers say they found babies with their heads cut off, entire families gunned down in their beds. About 40 babies and young children have been taken out on gurneys — so far….

Israel’s President Herzog: ‘Hamas has imported, adopted, and replicated the savagery of ISIS’

A press release directly from the Israel Government Press office reveals what Jihad Watch has previously reported: Hamas was using Islamic State tactics as it stormed Israeli communities and took captives. Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed the international community under the shadow of war, despite what many Leftists proclaim is merely a battle between Israel and the Palestinians, as they call for a ceasefire and for peace on both sides. If such a ceasefire were agreed to in the wake of the bloody Hamas assault, it could mean the end of Israel. That is, of course, the goal of all the major Palestinian political organizations; it is stated in the Palestinian National Charter and the Hamas Charter.

Palestinian National Charter:

Article 19:

“The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time, because they were contrary to the will of the Palestinian people and to their natural right in their homeland, and inconsistent with the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations; particularly the right to self-determination.”

Article 22:

“Israel is a constant source of threat vis-a-vis peace in the Middle East and the whole world. Since the liberation of Palestine will destroy the Zionist and imperialist presence and will contribute to the establishment of peace in the Middle East, the Palestinian people look for the support of all the progressive and peaceful forces and urge them all, irrespective of their affiliations and beliefs, to offer the Palestinian people all aid and support in their just struggle for the liberation of their homeland.”

Hamas Charter:

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it” (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).”

President Isaac Herzog’s Statement To The International Community:

As President of the State of Israel, I speak to you now from our capital city Jerusalem, under the dark shadow of war, as my nation continues to endure a savage attack from a cruel and inhumane enemy. To my mind, not since the Holocaust have so many Jews been killed on one day. And not since the Holocaust, have we witnessed scenes of Jewish women and children, grandparents – even Holocaust survivors – being herded into trucks and taken into captivity.

Hamas has imported, adopted, and replicated the savagery of ISIS. Entering civilian homes on a holy day, and murdering in cold blood, whole families. Young and old. Violating and burning bodies. Beating and torturing their innocent victims – Jews and Muslims and other faiths.

The brutality. The inhumanity. The barbarity of monsters – not humans – monsters.

Over the past days, I have spoken with leaders from around the world who expressed their deep outrage at the attack – including Vice President Harris, Secretary of State Blinken, the heads of the EU, the UN, NATO, and others closer to home like my friend President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

I call on all nations around the world:

  • First – most importantly, make clear and loud condemnations of Hamas’ actions. Just as you condemned the abhorrent and unspeakable actions of ISIS, because today, they are one and the same.
  • Second – those nations that have yet to do so: Designate Hamas in its entirety as a terrorist body.
  • Third – make clear that Hamas carries full responsibly and accountability for the well-being of the hostages it has taken and demand their immediate return to Israel.
  • And fourth – support Israel. In words and in deeds.

Israel for its part will continue to defend itself. The Government of Israel, Prime Minister Netanyahu, the IDF and all the Israeli security agencies have my full support. We will act with full force and unwavering commitment to eliminate this threat to our people. We will pursue all those who perpetrate and support such grievous acts against us.

I know the Israeli spirit will overcome. Unfortunately and sadly, there are hundreds of bereaved families all around the country, and thousands of injured being treated in hospitals around the country. Today and yesterday, I met some of the wounded in Asaf HaRofeh Shamir Hospital and Beersheba’s Soroka Medical Center, some of the best medical centres in the world.

If you ever want to witness the great spirit of my nation, the great spirit of the nation of Israel, you can see it in hospitals and elsewhere around the country. You will find a people united and committed to prevail, together, and come out victorious.

Let there be no mistake by any in the region who may consider operating against Israel. Israel is a very strong country and will employ all its might and strength to defend itself and its people.

I pray for the swift and full recovery of the injured, I pray for the bereaved families, and I pray for the wellbeing of those taken hostage. And through all this, with the solidarity and support of our brothers and sisters in Jewish communities all around the world, with our friends and allies all around the world, I know that Israel will emerge stronger, more resilient, and united.

United Church of Canada and World Council of Churches call for ‘immediate ceasefire’ in Israel and ‘Palestine’

The United Church of Canada made a revealing statement here: “United Church of Canada Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Israel and Palestine,” United Church of Canada, October 7, 2023:

The United Church condemns the attacks launched on communities in southern Israel by Hamas, and the ongoing daily violence meted out against Palestinians by Israel’s deepening occupation in Palestinian territories….Echoing the statement issued by the World Council of Churches, The United Church of Canada is deeply concerned about the risks of spiralling conflict between Palestinian armed groups and Israeli forces.

For starters, no entity known as “Palestine” exists. Palestine isn’t a state, despite being declared one by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which claims 57 member states, including “Palestine.”

Somewhere, somehow, the disingenuous World Council of Churches (WCC) and the BDS-supporting United Church of Canada (UCC) have missed the abundantly documented history of the Palestinian jihad against Israel. To call for a ceasefire in the midst of an all-out war is as ridiculous as calling for a “ceasefire” on “both sides” while the World War II was raging.  This current Israeli war on Hamas in Gaza was initiated by Hamas, and it did so in the most calculated and gruesome fashion.

Hamas is supported by Iran and its proxies, and its unprecedented attack was launched at a time when Israel was perceived to be weakened — it was distracted by interference from the Biden administration in its internal affairs, an interference that is ongoing. Then there are the billions that have flowed into Iranian coffers via Biden’s hostage deal, and before that, Obama’s backroom deals (see also HERE); as well as continued Palestinian funding from the Biden administration.

In March, Palestinian Islamic Jihad declared that the “IDF is disintegrating before our eyes.

The Palestinian imperative to obliterate Israel from the River to the Sea has been  escalating for some time, escalating in brutality and boldness.

While sinister organizations, even those operating under the banner of Christianity,  pretend to care about “both sides,” they conveniently ignore the key threat: the longstanding Palestinian jihad against Israel.

The United Church joins with all those praying for a just peace in the Holy Land and urges global leaders to work urgently for an end to the current violence, an end to the ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories, and a just and lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis.

What the UCC is really requesting is that Israel stop defending itself. This would mean the obliteration of the Jewish state. The UCC cloaks its statement in a monstrous disguise — as a “prayer.”

Israel must defend itself alone. The gloves are off, and antisemites are being exposed everywhere.

Hamas top dog quotes Qur’an, tells Muslims to ‘kill them wherever you find them’

That’s Qur’an 2:191 and 4:89 (cf. 9:5), verses that Islamic apologists have repeatedly assured us have no application in the modern world.

“Hamas Military Commander Mohammed Deif Announces Launch Of Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge, Calls On Palestinians In West Bank, Jerusalem, And Israel Proper To Attacks With Guns, Knives, Vehicles,” MEMRI, October 7, 2023:

On October 7, 2023, after the surprise invasion of Israel by Gaza militants, the Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) aired an audio recording of Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif’s announcement of the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge. Deif said that the invasion of Israel – in which so far over 600 Israelis have been killed, over 2,000 injured, and at least 100 kidnapped and taken to Gaza – was the “first strike” of the operation. He called upon Palestinians in the West Bank, in Jerusalem, and inside Israel itself to carry out attacks against Israelis using guns, knives, Molotov cocktails, and vehicles. Stating that the security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and Israel was over, he called on West Bank residents to attack Israeli settlements, and “sweep out the occupiers and their settlements from all our land in the West Bank.” The people of Jerusalem, he said, should “expel the occupation forces and the settlers” from Jerusalem. He went on to exhort the Arabs in Israel to “torch the earth under the feet of the plundering occupiers – kill, burn, destroy, shut down roads.”

Mohammed Deif: “In light of the continuous crimes against our people, and in light of the occupation’s rampage, and its disregard for international laws and resolutions, and in light of the American and Western support [of Israel] and the international silence, we have decided to put an end to all of this, with the help of Allah, so that the enemy understands that the time that it could go on a rampage without being held accountable is over.

“We declare the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge. We also declare that, with the help of Allah, the first strike of Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge, which targeted the enemy’s posts, airports, and military fortifications, included over 5,000 shells and rockets in the first 20 minutes.

“I say to the masses of the people and our nation, and to the free people of the world: Today, the wrath of Al-Aqsa has exploded – the rage of our people, our nation, and the free people of the world. I say to our pure mujahideen: This is the day that you make this criminal enemy understand that its time is up. [The Quran says:] ‘Kill them wherever you may find them.”

[…]

“I say to our young people in the West Bank, from the various organizations: Today is your day to sweep out the occupiers and their settlements from all our land in the West Bank, and to make them pay the price for their crimes, over the lean years. Organize your attacks on the settlements, with all the means at your disposal.

“Today, the military coordination [between Israel and the Palestinian Authority] is over. [The Palestinian Authority’s security forces] should prove that their patriotism and affiliation with the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem, and Palestine are greater than all the illusions of the occupation.

“Today, our people regain their revolution, rectify their path, and return to the plan of liberation, the return [of the refugees], and the establishment of a [Palestinian] state, through blood and martyrdom. I say to our people in Jerusalem: Arise for the support of your Al-Aqsa Mosque. Expel the occupation forces and the settlers from your Jerusalem, and destroy the walls of separation. I say to our people in occupied [pre-1967 Israel] – in the Negev, the Galilee, the Triangle, Haifa, Jaffa, Acre, Lod, and Ramla: Torch the earth under the feet of the plundering occupiers – kill, burn, destroy, and shut down roads. Make the cowardly occupiers understand that the Al-Aqsa Deluge is bigger than they think.

[…]

“The day has come when anyone who has a gun should take it out. Now is the time. If you do not have a gun, take up your cleaver, axe, Molotov cocktail, truck, tractor, or car.”

Fatah quotes Qur’an as it calls on ‘Palestinians’ to ‘slaughter everyone who is Israeli, by Allah, this is jihad’

The copious Qur’an quotations in these Fatah communiques might give someone the impression that Islam had something to do with this conflict. Good thing we have so many Western analysts assuring us that isn’t so.

“Fatah: ‘Strike the sons of apes of pigs… slaughter everyone who is Israeli,’” by Nan Jacques Zilberdik, Palestinian Media Watch, October 9, 2023:

A Telegram channel associated with Fatah’s military wing the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, is calling on Palestinians to slaughter Jews who they term “apes and pigs.”

The first post published by the Fatah channel after Hamas launched its terror massacre on Israel on Saturday was a “call for general mobilization” and to strike the settlers and occupation soldiers with full force and with all means.” The post started with a quote from the Quran and ended stating the belief that the Palestinians will “triumph with Allah’s might”:

Posted text: “‘So fight them and Allah will punish them at your hands, put them to shame’ [Quran 9:14, Sahih International translation]’…

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar (i.e., “Allah is greatest”)!

This is a call for mobilization, a call for general mobilization (refers to the Hamas terror war; see note below -Ed.)!

All our lucky fighters in the West Bank must increase the level of full preparedness, unite in this true battle, and strike the settlers and occupation soldiers with full force and with all means.

This is the final promise (see note below -Ed.), O beloved ones. ‘They truly see this Day as impossible, but We see it as inevitable’ [Quran 70:6-7, Sahih International translation], and we are triumphing with Allah’s might.

Scents of Paradise have begun to blow.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – the occupied land of Palestine.”

[The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – Palestine the Occupied Land, Telegram channel, Oct. 7, 2023]

Many posts begin with the words “Allahu Akbar – “Allah is greatest” – although Fatah presents itself to the world as a non-religious movement. One such post called for “Jihad” – Islamic war -and invoked an antisemitic Quranic reference to Jews, calling to “strike the sons of apes of pigs, kill everyone who is a settler, slaughter everyone who is Israeli”:

Posted text: “Allahu Akbar (i.e., “Allah is greatest”), come to Jihad, come to Jihad (refers to Hamas terror war; see note below -Ed.).

To all our sons and brothers in the Palestinian [PA] Security Forces throughout the West Bank – today is your day.

Break into the settlements, strike the sons of apes of pigs (i.e., an antisemitic Quranic reference to Jews; see note below), kill everyone who is a settler, slaughter everyone who is Israeli, by Allah, they are the most cowardly among men.

Today is a tiding of days of victory, Allah willing – for this is Jihad, Jihad, victory or Martyrdom.

Hamas and the ideology of hate

by A.S. Ibrahim

Israel was caught completely unprepared on Saturday, as the militant Muslim group Hamas launched a full-scale aggressive assault from land, sea, and air. To claim it as a religious mission, Hamas named the assault “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm,” as its fighters crossed into Israel and fired a massive barrage of rockets at targets, shocking many Israelis on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah.

Official tallies count more than 3,000 rockets fired from Gaza against Israeli cities, including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Hamas seems to have chosen the day of the attack carefully to catch the Israelis off guard—it also coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Arab attack against Israel on Yom Kippur on Oct. 6, 1973.

As of now, around 700 Israelis have died—many of them civilians—and nearly 2,000 are wounded. Those numbers are sure to rise. Videos of Israeli women and children taken by Muslim fighters circulated on the internet, as an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader “congratulated Palestinian fighters for launching the biggest attack on Israel in years.” Palestinian and Israeli media outlets announced that many Israeli soldiers were taken captive by the Hamas fighters

The Hamas attack appears well-planned and supported by its allies in the region, especially Iran and Hezbollah, aiming to thwart possible attempts by Israeli and Saudi Arabia to normalize relations. As Israel responds, the situation won’t end well and many more civilians on both sides will suffer, especially as Hamas is known for using civilians as human shields in buildings in Gaza where they store weapons and military equipment.

While there are various political angles in this dreadful situation—including how American weakness in the region enables bad actors against its major ally—we should pay close attention to the ideology that drives Hamas.

Hamas is highly political and deeply religious. As a group, it emerged in the 1980s from the larger Islamist group, the Muslim Brotherhood. While there is no doubt about the political aspiration of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, they both openly and explicitly tie their militant actions to the Quran and Muhammad as sources of legitimacy. This is why Hamas named the entire operation after Al-Aqsa Mosque, due to its religious esteem, to consolidate spiritual sentiment and momentum.

Not only is fighting Israeli soldiers commanded and commended, but attacking Jews—even noncombatants—becomes a religious commitment, since the Quran explicitly states that the “strongest in enmity” to the Muslims are “the Jews.”

To Hamas, the Jews are the enemies. Why? Because the Quran and Muhammad’s statements explicitly state so. Not only is fighting Israeli soldiers commanded and commended, but attacking Jews—even noncombatants—becomes a religious commitment, since the Quran explicitly states that the “strongest in enmity” to the Muslims are “the Jews.” Notice the designation of a religious group as an enemy. This forms and fuels hatred against humans based on their religious loyalty.

For Hamas, the Islamic designation of the Jews as enemies doesn’t distinguish military commanders from civilians—all are in one basket. Whether Hamas and its militias care about Islam and its advancement is not the issue, as they clearly use its ideological claims to advance their political agenda.

This is evident in the way Hamas persuades Muslims to serve as suicide bombers and human shields by encouraging them to wage jihad against the Jewish enemy, the state of Israel.

In Islam, jihad is chiefly armed fighting with religious meaning. Jihad is the most commendable of actions, and martyrs are promised immediate admittance to paradise. Hamas uses this claim to encourage Muslims to fight the Jews by waging jihad for religious causes. If killed, the Islamic logic goes, Muslims receive the highest eternal reward. Any attack against the Jewish state is thus viewed as a jihadi mission for Allah’s cause. Hamas understands that the Israelis will hesitate to bomb buildings full of civilians, and the group uses these buildings to secure weaponry and launch attacks, convincing Palestinians they are serving a high religious cause.

Hamas preachers advance the attack on the Jews as an emulation of Muhammad’s precedent. In Muhammad’s biography, he fought “the three main Jewish tribes of Medina,” after identifying them as hypocrites and unbelievers of his religious message. The example is loaded with religious weight for those who want to follow Muhammad’s model. In one account, Muhammad seized the Jews, and “all adult males are executed, and the women and children are enslaved.” Devotees can hardly escape yearning to imitate such a model.

The political dilemma is indeed complex, but the ideological hatred toward a religious enemy is driven by and amplified through ancient statements deemed sacred and foundational for religious enthusiasts to attack the Jews.

With such a foundation, fighting is not likely to cease any time soon.

The Hamas pogrom is the result of the West's refusal to accept the idea of evil

Melanie Phillips

Israel’s heart has been broken. At war once again against genocidal enemies, its people are shattered by shock, grief and horror.

At time of writing, the number of those murdered has risen to 800, with 2,315 wounded and at least 100 being held hostage in Gaza.

The images of what happened will stay with us forever. Dozens of Israelis were gunned down in their homes and their cars.

Elderly people and small children were slaughtered; women were raped; bodies taken into Gaza were paraded and desecrated; mothers with children in their arms were abducted and are now being held as hostages in Gaza’s terror tunnels.

This was barbarism and depravity, not seen on such an infernal scale since the Holocaust.

Every one of these attacks on Israeli civilians was a war crime. It is a moral imperative to destroy the forces who committed them and who — as they tell us — are intent upon eradicating Israel and the Jewish people.

And yet the US State Department said after the pogrom: ‘We urged all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.”

All sides? That means the US is telling Israel to “refrain” from defending its people. Should the Americans have refrained from waging war against Afghanistan to destroy the Taliban after 9/11 as a “retaliatory attack”?

Of course not. Such moral equivalence, it seems, applies only to Israel. It is also the default position of the western left.

This has been on display once again in the media coverage of these events. Newspapers have been reporting “horrific” casualty figures “on both sides”; the BBC and other outlets announced on Monday morning that the death toll was 1,100, similarly equating the Israeli victims of mass murder with those killed in the attempt to prevent any more such attacks.

Such bankrupt moral equivalence is “progressive” orthodoxy. Ostensibly aimed at equality for all values, it enables certain "approved" criminals to evade responsibility for their crimes by representing them as victims alongside those they have attacked. The inevitable consequence is that their victims are represented as attackers.

Thus a BBC headline read “Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza Strip… after Palestinian gunmen infiltrate its territory”, repeating the BBC’s habitual inversion of aggression and response. The extreme nature of the atrocity was instantly downgraded and its horror was blunted.

This is no accident. The instinct of the left is to deny Israeli victimhood. That’s because such victimhood gets in the way of the default “progressive” narrative that Israel is the aggressor and the Palestinians are their victims.

It also gives rise to the claim that Israel’s response is “disproportionate” if its forces kill “too many” Palestinians. But a proportionate response never involves a comparison of the numbers killed. It is rather a response that’s proportionate to the threat of further killing.

At the moment, the “disproportionate” voices are muted by the horror of what has happened. But if Israel hits Gaza very hard, we’ll soon be hearing once again the claims and blood libels of Israeli “war crimes”.

While the Labour party leadership is currently supporting Israel’s right to take the measures in Gaza necessary to defend itself, an event organised by the Corbynite Momentum faction just down the road from Labour’s party conference applauded the Hamas pogrom.

Although the Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer, has purged Momentum from the party, he is currently refusing to suspend Labour MP Apsana Begum. According to a complaint by the Tory MP Greg Hands, she tweeted her "solidarity" with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, which was planning a protest outside the Israeli embassy to demand Israel end its “violent imposition of occupation, apartheid and colonisation over the Palestinian people”.

Despite Starmer's efforts, anti-Zionist and anti-Jewish attitudes remain entrenched on the left, centred upon the Palestinian cause. Its apologists have responded to the Hamas atrocities by saying that Israel “had this coming” as a result of its “colonial” oppression of the Palestinians.

The ignorant and malicious lie of Israeli “oppression” and injustice is embedded in western “progressive” circles. Totally ignoring the Palestinians’ genocidal antisemitism, this narrative has sanitised, emboldened and incentivised Palestinian incitement against Israel and the Jewish people for decades.

Jews on the left, including those now wringing their hands over the massacre in Israel, are complicit in this malignant echo chamber.

They are part of a western culture that is no longer prepared to recognise evil. It seeks instead to ascribe it to motives like oppression.

It tells itself that every aggressive cause is amenable to compromise. It refuses to accept that sometimes there’s no alternative but to fight until the forces of evil are crushed by a military victory.

By refusing to accept this, such “progressives” sentence countless innocents to die. That is what has happened in Israel. That’s why yet more innocents there will be slaughtered, and yet more young Israeli conscripts are now being sent into the line of fire.

Israel will fight to destroy this evil because it has no choice. Many western progressives have chosen to support evil instead

What Hamas Attack Tells Us: Jihadi Islam Is Worse Than Nazism; It Must Be Dealt With The Same Way

R Jagannathan

World

  • The world is letting jihadi Islam grow to proportions that even the Nazis could not hope for.
  • The world needs a few parallel approaches to deal with this threat.

The massive Hamas terrorist attack on Israel brings to the fore a forgotten reality: the continuing jihadi Islamist threat not only to democracies, but even the rest.

It has to be defeated through a global consensus, not encouraged by giving legitimacy to the weaponisation of Muslim victimhood.

Even if Israeli existence were to be erased to appease the Palestinian jihadis, the Islamism that drives this extremism will be strengthened, not weakened. This is because Islam is not just a religion; it is a politico-military enterprise.

The Russia-Ukraine war of the last 19 months shifted our focus to this latest intra-European war, but the world would be extremely unwise to ignore this greater Islamist threat.

If America wanted it, it could end the Ukraine war with minor concessions on NATO expansion and the imposition of acceptable financial costs on the Russians. What the world cannot do is shut down the menace called jihadi terrorism.

Jihadi terrorism, backed by Islamic extremists of various kinds, is now a threat to most democracies and we cannot wish it away by trying to pretend that Islamophobia is the real problem.

We should be clear on one thing: jihadi Islam is Nazism raised to the power of ‘N’. The Nazi slogan was Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuehrer. The Islamist slogan is supra-national, One Umma, One Caliph, One Last Prophet, and One God, Allah. Once you include god in the equation for political supremacy, you are essentially equipping yourself with endless power in his name.

The world needed to defeat only one country’s army to get rid of Nazism, but jihadi Islam is present in large parts of the world, inside most democracies, including the US, Europe and India, not to speak of its epicentre in West Asia and Pakistan.

Defeating Nazism needed both the democratic and autocratic parts of the world (Western Europe, the US and Stalinist Soviet Union) to join hands. Defeating jihadi Islam needs a similar coming together of forces, but with the acknowledgement of one caveat. Often, the enemy is not outside, but within. Fighting the enemy within is tougher than fighting with one outside.

The autocracies have acknowledged this by taking on the Islamists within their own territories. China has been brutally dealing with the Uyghurs, and Russia has dealt similarly with it Chechen and Dagestan extremists.

But the democratic nations are clueless on how to deal with jihadi Islam. As democracies, they cannot obviously deal with them the way the Chinese or Russians have, but they ought to remember a simple question posed by philosopher Karl Popper: how tolerant can the tolerant be of the intolerant? The answer should be “not very tolerant”.

You can’t be undemocratic, but you can’t give Islamists a free hand within democracies either.

The problem with Islam is as old as the faith, which is the second largest in the world. Islam is not just a religion. It is a politico-militarist ideology where religion is merely the glue to enable the aggregation and grabbing of unlimited power.

We know this from our own history, where Islam was used to vivisect India in 1947. Islam was used to drive out the Hindus from Kashmir Valley. Islam has been used to ethnically cleanse Hindus in both Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The world needs a few parallel approaches to deal with this threat.

First, it must agree that any Islamist threat to any democratic country must be fought resolutely, by jailing identified jihadists.

Second, it must stop using the term Islamophobia to overlook the excesses of radical Islamists within their own countries. Islamists know how to weaponise victimhood status, and this plank must be denied to them.

Third, the two great autocracies, Russia and China, have suppressed their own Islamists with brute force, but they are busy stoking the same forces elsewhere, whether it is in Syria, Iran or Pakistan.

The Western democracies must confabulate with them to come to an agreement that they will tone down their criticism of how Russia and China deal with their jihadi groups in return for not backing other jihadis against democracies.

This bargain may not sound good to liberals, but they should understand that when the choice is between internal evisceration and survival of their cultures, this deal is a must.

Fourth, the world must agree on a strategy for de-radicalising Muslims even while making it clear that they are not opposed to the practice of their religion, which surely has some redeeming features.

Importantly, they must encourage Muslims to introspect and reinterpret their religious texts, and even abandon them where necessary.

Islam is the only major religion that has never had to rethink its premises.

The road to ijtihad, which is the use of reason to evaluate even scriptures, was closed to Muslims more than 10 centuries ago. It has to be forced open, just as Germany and the Axis powers were forced by defeat in a world war to come to terms with their own devils.

Right now, the world is letting jihadi Islam grow to proportions that even the Nazis could not hope for.

Gary Willig is a newswriter at Arutz Sheva.

The massacre of more than 800 people in southern Israel by Hamas terrorists on the morning of Simchat Torah was a shock to decent people everywhere, and must have come as even more of a shock to those who think the Gaza Strip was still ‘under Israeli occupation.’

How could Hamas have planned and executed such an operation while under occupation? Surely the movement of this many militants would have been stopped or at least seen by the Israeli soldiers on the ground to enforce the occupation?

The truth is that there were no soldiers in Gaza because the coastal enclave has not been under anything that could be considered an ‘occupation’ for nearly two decades.

In August 2005, Israel completely withdrew from the Gaza Strip. The Jewish communities of Gush Katif were completely destroyed. Every last Jewish man, woman, and child in Gaza was expelled from the area by the Jewish State. Even the dead were expelled, their graves dug up for reburial in the new borders of Israel. Every last Israeli soldier was also withdrawn from Gaza. By September 12, 2005, more than 18 years ago, Gaza was completely Judenrein and had an Israeli population of zero.

If you lived in the fantasy world of the UN or the so-called human rights organizations like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, you could be forgiven for not realizing this important fact, because they have continued to pretend that Israel was still occupying Gaza ever since.

In 2012, more than six years after the Disengagement, UN Spokesman Martin Nesirky said that the UN still considered Gaza to be occupied, with the apparent justification that as long as any part of the ‘Occupied Palestinian Territories’ remained under occupation, then all of the territories were under occupation.

“Well, under resolutions adopted by both the Security Council and the General Assembly on the Middle East peace process, the Gaza Strip continues to be regarded as part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The United Nations will accordingly continue to refer to the Gaza Strip as part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory until such time as either the General Assembly or the Security Council take a different view,” Nesirky said.

A month later, a senior Hamas official in Gaza acknowledged the truth the UN was blind to that there was no occupation.

Speaking about the civil unrest in Gaza in the years following Hamas’ violent takeover of the enclave, Hamas Foreign Minister Mahmoud al-Zahar asked: "Against whom could we demonstrate in the Gaza Strip? When Gaza was occupied, that model was applicable."

The fantasy of a continued Israeli occupation of Gaza has also been indulged by NGOs that are supposed to work for the furtherment of human rights, such as Amnesty International.

Amnesty, in its 2022 report on the Arab-Israeli conflict, referred to Gaza as “the occupied Gaza Strip” in the opening paragraph of its report.

In another 2022, the Human Rights Watch organization stated that “as the occupying power, Israel remains bound to provide residents of Gaza the rights and protections afforded to them by the law of occupation.”

What is the justification for continuing to insist that Israel occupies Gaza nearly two decades after it withdrew from the territory? The Human Rights Watch report provides the answer.

“Because of the continuing controls Israel exercises over the lives and welfare of Gaza’s inhabitants, Israel remains an occupying power under international humanitarian law, despite withdrawing its military forces and settlements from the territory in 2005.”

What is the control the report mentions? The partial blockade Israel and Egypt maintain to prevent the smuggling of weapons and materials with military use into Gaza.

An NBC News summary of the history of the Hamas-Israel conflict leading up to Saturday’s massacre says it explicitly: “The UN, various human rights groups and legal scholars, citing the blockade, consider Gaza to still be under military occupation by Israel.” (emphasis added)

What is the actual definition of an occupation? The 1899 and 1907 Hague Conventions Respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land (Hague Regulations) are the primary source for the definition of occupation under international law. Article 42 of the 1907 Hague Regulations states that " territory is considered occupied when it is actually placed under the authority of the hostile army. The occupation extends only to the territory where such authority has been established and can be exercised."

“Actually placed under the authority of the hostile army.” “Where such authority has been established and can be exercised.”

These conditions are not met in Gaza and have not been met in any fashion since 2005. With zero soldiers, the IDF has no authority whatsoever in Gaza and can exercise none. Despite the claims of the UN, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch, a blockade and an occupation are two very different things under real human rights law. While the word “occupation” occurs 46 times in the 1949 Geneva Conventions, which is often used as the basis for accusations of Israeli violations of human rights or international law, the word “blockade” never appears at all in any of the four conventions approved on August 12, 1949.

The Israeli occupation of Gaza from 2005 until today would be the first and only occupation in world history to have no boots on the ground, to have the entire territory supposedly under occupation under the complete control of an entity hostile to the occupying power rather than the occupying power. It would be the first occupation in history in which the occupying power lacks even the basic ability to arrest people for any crimes.

In short, they have changed the very definition of the word “occupation” in order to find Israel guilty.

This is a common tactic of Israel’s critics. They accuse Israel of “genocide” when the Palestinian Arab population has grown by leaps and bounds and while the IDF has taken unprecedented steps to protect the lives of civilians while combatting terrorist organizations with actual genocidal intent. It would be the first genocide in history where the population being subjected to genocide grew instead of shrinking.

They redefine the word genocide to find Israel guilty, the facts be damned.

Israel is accused of “Apartheid,” despite the fact that about a fifth of its population is Arab and all citizens enjoy full and equal rights under the law. The horrible crime of Apartheid has been redefined to no longer refer to forced segregation and discrimination and the denial of rights based on race, but to any instance of racism or discrimination, or any security measures that are necessary to save lives but may cause inconvenience to non-citizens.

It's not about the truth for the critics who accuse Israel of occupying Gaza, of genocide, or of Apartheid. It’s about finding ways to hurt Israel and to find the Jewish State guilty at any cost to the causes of human rights and international law. No legal term or concept is safe from being redefined to fit this anti-Israel agenda.

The next time someone attempts to claim to you that Israel occupied Gaza after the Disengagement, remember what happened on the morning of October 7, 2023. Remember that there were no Israeli police, no Israeli soldiers, no administrators, not a single person in Gaza as part of any occupation to stop the massacre of hundreds of innocent people.

There was no occupation. If there had been, over 800 people would still be alive.

Iran and its Hamas proxy have been emboldened by Western weakness: Hybrid warfare expert BOB SEELY...

Bob Seely

The timing of the brutal attacks by Hamas has been triggered by an attempt to exploit bitter internal divisions in Israel but on a deeper level, the assault has been driven by Hamas's overlord Iran, a theocratic Shia Muslim state that is engaged in a struggle for power and influence across the Middle East.

Yesterday's attack was clearly months, even years, in the planning.

Funds to carry it out and the technology for the missiles almost certainly came from Iran, which has proxy forces throughout the region.

The chilling fact is that Tehran's tentacles are spreading remorselessly as the regime supports other terror groups in Yemen, Lebanon and Iraq.

Iran's mullahs, reviled by many outside Iran but also by many Iranians fed up with despotism, want to destabilise relationships between the Muslim Sunni world and Israel. Recently, those relationships have been improving.

It is in all our interests that the Arab world and Israel settle their differences, as difficult as that will be, not only because that would bring peace, a good thing in itself, but also because we need to reach out to states throughout the world to encourage and support democracy.

Iran is allied to Russia, and Russia is allied to China. All three are profoundly hostile to the West and wish to undermine the international order: Iran by destroying peace between Israel and the Sunni world, Russia by destroying Ukraine and challenging the West through hybrid war, and China by threatening Western interests in the Pacific, particularly by destabilising Taiwan.

Without doubt, Iran's military development is being helped by Moscow which, in turn, needs Iran's drone technology and is using hundreds of its Shahed drones to attack military and civilian targets in Ukraine.

Like Russia is doing in Ukraine, Iran-backed Hamas is using medium-range missiles to make life hell for civilians in Israel. This technology is becoming cheaper and more easily available. Every few years, Hamas becomes more sophisticated in its targeting, while the payloads missiles can carry grow larger.

The most worrying danger is that these capabilities will become a threat – not only to life but to Israel itself – especially if Iran develops its own nuclear bomb, which some believe is only a matter of time.

Against this dangerous background, in addition to military capability, Iran and its Hamas proxy have been emboldened by the perception of Western weakness.

This is epitomised by the White House under President Joe Biden, a man whose grasp of policy and mental acuity do not inspire confidence.

The sense of decline that the 80-year-old exudes has been reflected in a series of events: America's shambolic withdrawal from Afghanistan; the one-sided deal for the release of US hostages held by Iran in return for colossal payments, and the friction in US relations with Saudi Arabia.

Iran sees all this as evidence of Western vulnerability and is eager to test us.

We must not be found wanting.

Any retreat in the face of violence and intimidation would be fatal to our interests and bad for our alliances. Here is what we must do. First, support Israel and ensure that Iran does not succeed in undermining the normalisation of relationships between Israel and other Middle East nations.

Thousands of Iranian people stage a demonstration and carry Palestinian flag in support of Hamas and Palestinian resistance in Tehran, Iran on October 7

Reserve Israeli soldiers line up to register for duty in a northern Israeli town on October 7, after Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a large-scale surprise attack against Israel

People standing on a rooftop watch as a ball of fire and smoke rises above a building in Gaza City on

Second, there must be more – and public – discussion of what happens if, or when, Iran gets nuclear weapons.

Given the evil irresponsibility of Iran's mullahs, such a moment in history would be massively destabilising in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Saudis would either demand nuclear guarantees or get their own bomb from Pakistan.

Would Europe stand with the US or would Iran's mullahs be allowed to blackmail the world?

Third, we in Britain must urgently think about missile defence. What we have seen in Ukraine, and now in Israel, is the growing importance of missile defence and the increasing threat from massed missile attack, especially given the new role of drones in warfare.

Finally, we need a much more robust response to Iranian threats of violence in the UK, both against Jewish people and against Iranian dissident groups threatened by intimidation or assassination from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Indeed, our Government should immediately ban the IRGC.

Britain is far from the Middle East, but Cyprus, which holds British military bases, is not. Neither are our allies across the Gulf.

The technology Hamas is using comes from Iran – and Iran has many other counties such as Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, in its sights.

Make no mistake, what is happening in Israel and in Ukraine is a grave warning to us.

Now Hamas Wants a Truce | Frontpage Mag

[Make sure to read Robert Spencer’s contributions in Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.]

After brutally massacring over 600 Israelis and then suffering some retaliatory strikes from Israel, the bloodthirsty jihadis of Hamas now want a truce. The Israeli government is virtually certain to get immense pressure to agree to such a truce, but this is actually the last thing that Israel should do at this point.

Even before the magnitude of what Hamas perpetrated in Israel was fully known, calls for a ceasefire became a talking point. Leftist opinion makers from the ridiculous (Antony Blinken) to the absurd (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) began calling for a ceasefire so quickly that the Babylon Bee zinged them with a riotous headline: “Emperor Hirohito Calls For Ceasefire After Bombing Of Pearl Harbor.”

Just hours after the Hamas jihad massacres began, the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs tweeted an astonishingly tone-deaf statement: “We unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that has incurred. We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.” The Office deleted this tweet after people started to point out how monstrous it was to urge that Israel not retaliate after being hit with the most devastating attack in its history.

Despite this embarrassment, Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted Sunday that he had met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan; he added, “I encouraged Türkiye’s advocacy for a cease-fire.” (Türkiye is the new official name of the country formerly known as Turkey; its proud government got tired of all the Thanksgiving bird jokes.)

Blinken later took that one down as well, but other leftists continued to call for a ceasefire at a time when that could only have meant that Hamas would hit Israel and Israel would do nothing in response. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Socialist Ditzville) released a statement on Saturday afternoon, as Israeli authorities were still tracking down all the Hamas jihadis who had managed to get inside the country and start killing indiscriminately. AOC said, “An immediate ceasefire and de-escalation is urgently needed to save lives.”

Eventually, after Israel bombed numerous Hamas sites in Gaza, Hamas top dogs began to think that a ceasefire sounded like a terrific idea. Reuters reported on Monday afternoon that “a senior Hamas official said the group is open to discussions over a possible truce with Israel, having ‘achieved its targets.’” Asked if Hamas wanted a ceasefire, a senior leader of the jihad group, Moussa Abu Marzouk (who has a doctorate in industrial engineering from Louisiana Tech), said that Hamas “was open to ‘something of that sort’ and ‘all political dialogues.’”

The establishment media and the leftist political elites will receive this with hosannas and take it as the dawning of a new era of peace — if only those dastardly warmongering Israelis will take Hamas’ olive branch. That is, however, not really what it is at all. For Hamas to be asking for a truce on Monday evening Gaza time, it must have had an extremely bad Sunday and Monday. For Islamic law only allows for a truce if Muslims are weak and need to gather strength to fight later more effectively, or if they’re fighting non-Muslims whom they think may accept Islam. “If Muslims are weak, a truce may be made for ten years if necessary, for the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) made a truce with the Quraysh for that long, as is related by Abu Dawud…Interests that justify making a truce are such things as Muslim weakness because of lack of numbers or materiel, or the hope of an enemy becoming Muslim…” (‘Umdat al-Salik, o9.16). This idea is founded on the Qur’an itself: “So do not falter and cry out for peace when you have the upper hand…” (47:35).

Western authorities never, ever demonstrate even the slightest understanding of this point, but this means that when a jihad group asks for a truce, it is admitting that it is losing and needs time to recover. The last thing that its non-Muslim foe should do at that point is actually grant it a truce. What it should do instead is press on toward final victory.

This has happened numerous times in the past: Israel makes headway against the jihadis, they ask for a truce, and the American government pressures the Israelis into accepting. The Netanyahu government should stand firm against all such pressure from the Biden regime. It should understand Hamas’ interest in a truce as a declaration of weakness, and destroy this evil organization’s power to terrorize innocent people once and for all.

Reflections on Israel’s New Existential War | Frontpage Mag

There have been plenty of terrorist attacks on Israel. A dozen or so conventional wars of various magnitude have been waged against the Jewish state. And more often there have been mixtures of both.

Yet never have hundreds of gangs of black-clad murderers carefully planned to swarm Israel, with an agenda to pull random Jews out of their homes and off the street, murder them, and toss their bodies in the street.

In fact, the closest parallel to the sort of methods Hamas is now embracing is something close to the Rwanda 1994 mass killing, when swarms of Hutu militia killers launched a preplanned murder spree against thousands of Tutsi civilians.

Note one common theme of these horrific videos of the murdering of young women: the bloodthirst of the Gaza crowd. There appears a natural desire of everyday Gazans to video the mutilations, an embrace of the spitting on the doomed, a frenzied effort to mutilate the dead—and the absence of a single Gazan objecting to the group murder of a civilian.

Hamas did not act out of the ordinary, but in sync with its people. In truth, there is something so terribly wrong in Gaza that the United States should keep as far away as it can from such barbarity—and hope that it too feels the same about America and keeps to itself.

So again why did Hamas mount such a long-planned and multifaceted assault on Israeli towns, public buildings, soldiers, and civilians?

The invasion was not so much a surprise attack, in the conventional Pearl Harbor sense, as a carefully calibrated land, sea, and ground effort at mass killing and hostage taking. It was designed to execute noncombatants, grab Jews for bargaining leverage, and to shock Israelis through their pre-civilizational desecration of the bodies of the dead.

It targeted first a youth concert near the border, on the theory the cowardly killers could gain maximum media traction and Arab solidarity by sensationally butchering and kidnapping helpless adolescents. Will the murderers in the weeks ahead transfer their killing zeal to attacks on the IDF? They will soon have their long desired and ample opportunity to showcase to the world their bravado as they face real soldiers and not unarmed elderly and youth.

Apparently, the Palestinians in their now ISIS role also thought their descent into even greater barbarity, rarely witnessed in even the most savage parts of the world, would shock Israelis into assuming some sort of collective fetal position, with hands over their ears screaming, “make all these demons just go away.”

If so, Hamas sorely miscalculated.

The sheer horror of their methods, and the cowardice shown by focusing on teen-aged girls and children rather than the IDF, will have the exact opposite effect, both in Israel and worldwide.

Israel now knows there is no living with a precivilizational Hamas. It must destroy it, permanently block off Gaza from itself, and adopt a strategy of chronic disproportionate response from now on out.

In such a change of strategy, Israel will have the backing of most of the civilized world and its own people, since there is no other choice once Hamas has adopted its campaign of death. We will likely see things in the next month that no one has anticipated, and yet the Israeli response will be in the eyes of most of the world long overdue.

In other words, few will pay any more attention to the Squads of the world, or the radical Jew-haters of the Western Left, or the Democratic-Socialists of America who cheered on the killing. They are now revealed on the side of death for death’s sake and cannot be reasoned with.

We are not yet 80 years out from the Holocaust. Yet here again we witness black-clad cadres of special killer units trying to round up Jews and execute them on the spot. There is one strange difference though between the current Hamas SS cadres and their spiritual forefathers in Nazi Germany.

Between 1941-45 America fought to destroy the SS and its hired local death squads. But in 2023, the Biden administration has restored hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to the Palestinian Authority and to Gaza under Hamas, despite the commitments of both to the destruction of Israel and the mass killing of Jews—and regardless of the warnings of its own State Department.

That too will change, as there will soon be zero American support for giving one more cent to any Palestinian “organization.”

Why the attacks now? Other than the usual reasons the Palestinians slaughter Jews—envy, the easy preference to destroy others than to create a successful modern state of their own, ethnic and religious hatred—the timing and methods of this particular killing spread were predicated on some particular catalysts.

Palestinians wanted to stop any rumored rapprochement between the Gulf monarchies—their traditional purse strings—and Israel, by forcing the issue of Arab solidarity in times of “war,” especially through waging a gruesome attack aimed at civilians and encompassing executions and hostage taking. They wished to force, for example, the Saudis to endorse their mutilation of corpses or else to be seen as sell-outs to the “Jews.”

Iran is the likely driving force in prompting the war. Its greatest fear is a Sunni Arab-Israel deal that would finally transcend the anti-Semitic and ethnic hatred that now resides most prominently in Palestine and Iran.

In addition, Arab forces only achieve success against Israel in surprise assaults during an Israel holiday. So the current attack was timed 50-years after the October 6, 1973 beginning of the Yom Kippur War. They struck during Simchat Torah, coming at the end of a weeklong Jewish celebration of Sukkot. And yet despite the iconic date, Hamas caught both the sophisticated intelligence networks of Israel, the United States, and the West in general completely unaware.

Did Hamas think Hezbollah and Iran would join in? Will they? If one believes their rhetoric they will; if one believes that they do not wish to experience what will likely follow in Gaza, they will not.

For the time being, after all, there are now zero restraints on Israel for the first occasion perhaps in its history. Few other than the international relations major AOC or a bigot in the American State Department will call for proportionality, an immediate ceasefire, or an Israeli stand down.

Hamas may also have reckoned that recent Israeli turmoil and mass street protests over proposed reforms of the Israeli Supreme Court had led to permanent internal divisions and thus a climate of domestic distraction if not an erosion of deterrence.

True, there was something eerie about the Israeli left’s opposition that extended to the politicization of IDF recruits. This propensity to commit collective civilizational suicide is now toxic in Western society, from Sweden to America. But in a frontline state like Israel it could prove fatal–as Hamas apparently also reasoned.

Let us also be candid, the Biden administration has contributed to the notion that Hamas was a legitimate Middle-East player. It fueled the perception that the U.S. was backing away from its traditional support for Israel—to the delight of Hamas—based on inexplicable policies.

Remember there is an iron law in the Middle East: anytime the U.S. distances itself from Israel, and gravitates to Iran, its violent enemies see that as a de facto greenlight to ratchet up their aggression. It is now a tenet of the base of the new woke Democratic Party, whether on campuses, among its Squad, in the media, or as championed by its identify politics caucuses, that Israel is an illegitimate state, while radical Palestinians are freedom fighters.

Do we remember that in February the ridiculous Secretary of State Blinken bragged that not only had the Biden administration resumed massive aid to the corrupt PLA, canceled by Trump, but also cumulatively had transferred $1 billion—even as Palestinian authorities and Abbas bragged that they would continue to pay bounties to the families of “martyrs” (i.e., those killed while conducting terrorists attacks against Israel)?

All such funds are fungible. So the more Biden’s people brag that the money goes to humanitarian purposes or has not yet arrived in Iranian accounts, the more these terrorist entities preemptively free up cash to mobilize for war.

So millions of American dollars went into Gaza, run by Hamas—despite the Biden administration’s efforts to keep mostly quiet the resumption of such inexplicable support.

In this regard, note the shameful State-Department (“U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs”) website news release that was posted instantly after attack (since mysteriously taken down). It had ended with this quite embarrassing, morally equivalent admonition: “We urged all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.” “All sides?” “Refrain from retaliatory attacks?”

So Israel is to be the moral equivalent of terrorists executing civilians and brutalizing their corpses? And all this from the U.S. government? And what exactly is the “U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs,” a megaphone for “normalizing” Hamas?

The IDF then is not to retaliate against these killers?

Does the Biden administration now also call upon Ukraine, “to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks?” Does it believe that Ukraine’s “violence” in response to Putin’s “terror” will “solve nothing?”

Remember also the Biden administration had recently released some $6 billion to Iran through a prison swap deal that saw South Korea hand over embargoed Iranian money to Qatar—despite Tehran’s increased anti-Israeli rhetoric and its loud brag about the escalation.

In fungible fashion and in anticipation of the arrival of this cash windfall, Iran no doubt accelerated its shipments of arms to Gaza. We should assume Iranian money for rockets (Hamas claims they have launched 5,000, and have received 100,000 of them via the Damascus airport) and weapons in general for Hamas were supplied by Iran, a terrorist state that the Biden administration apparently sees as a strategic partner.

Almost immediately, after his inauguration an eager Biden mobilized to resume the bankrupt Iran deal. In unhinged fashion, he appointed the anti-Israeli bigot, pro-Iranian zealot journalist Robert Malley as America’s chief Iranian negotiator. Remember, Malley was the special ISIS advisor of Barack Obama (who kept mum during the 2009 mass uprising against the Iranian theocracy), when ISIS overran Iraq.

Our envoy Malley apparently advertises himself, to quote his Wikipedia bio, as “an expert on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has written extensively on this subject advocating rapprochement with Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood.”

We are now witnessing the reification of our Iranian envoy’s idea of “rapprochement” in the streets of Israel.

Note that Malley is now under FBI investigation for security breaches, involving disclosing classified U.S. documents. He also is under further scrutiny for allegedly helping pro-Iranian activists and propagandists land influential billets inside the U.S. government.

Imagine that: Iran now cheers on mass death in Israel while its agents and provocateurs burrow into the U.S. government (which might explain the Biden State Department’s immediate call to cease Israeli retaliation).

The result of this madness is that there was a general Hamas and Iranian perception that the Biden administration had resumed the discredited Obama insanity of empowering Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas. This discredited agenda aimed to “balance” the power of Israel and the moderate Arab Gulf governments to achieve “creative tension,” and was certainly exacerbated by Biden’s loathing of the government of Benjamín Netanyahu.

Note as well that the Biden administration has insidiously siphoned off key weapons and munitions from emergency stockpiles inside Israel apparently to transfer them to Ukraine. The so-called “War Reserve Ammunition—Israel” is reportedly all but depleted of just the sorts of weapons and shells that will be likely needed in the present crisis.

Who knows, we should soon expect that some of the multibillion-dollar arsenal abandoned to the Taliban—who have now voiced a willingness to help Gaza in the killing of Jews—will end up with Hamas. So we deplete strategic arsenals in Israel, but leave them to the Taliban.

In this regard is there a Carteresque pattern here?

Upon the ascension of Biden and his woke strategic agendas, we witnessed the following chain of events: 1) the 2021 complete humiliation of the U.S. miliary in Kabul in its greatest defeat in 50 years; 2) followed by Vladimir Putin’s 2022 opportunistic invasion of Ukraine; 3) followed by China’s new belligerence and escalating threats to Taiwan; 4) followed by Turkey’s new de facto alliance with Russia and recent drone encounter with the U.S. air force in Syria; 5) followed by the Hamas/Iranian inspired attack on Israel—6) with more to come unfortunately.

Will Biden finally get the message from the attacks on the Ukraine and Israeli borders, that borders matter? We too are being invaded, with the encouragement of the Mexican government and to the advantage of the cartels. Biden should carefully digest the ranting of President Obrador who seems to feel he has veto power over the White House, as he demands our own borders remain open to his citizens for whom he cannot provide, while he seeks to influence U.S. elections.

In a sane world, the Biden administration would immediately cancel all talks with Iran, renew sanctions, and stop any cash transferences. (Why were the Obama and Biden administrations so fond of sending so much money to theocratic Iran)? It would stop all aid to the West Bank and Gaza. It would put a travel ban on anyone from Iran or the West Bank and Gaza and pull visas of any currently from Palestine in the U.S. It would immediately ramp up defense spending, especially on missile defense, dismantle the woke commissariat in the Pentagon, and prepare for the unthinkable and existential abroad.

And there is likely zero chance that the handlers of Joe Biden will do any of that.

Leftists Come Out in Support of Hamas Massacres | Frontpage Mag

[Make sure to read Robert Spencer’s contributions in Jamie Glazov’s new book: Barack Obama’s True Legacy: How He Transformed America.]

After the horrifying images of what Hamas did in Israel on Saturday went around the world, it’s hard to believe that anyone came out in support of the Palestinian jihad. But numerous leftists found a way and seized the opportunity of the bloody massacre of hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians to advance anti-Israel talking points.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Ramallah) led the way with a statement that was a masterpiece of blame-shifting and displacement of responsibility. After seeing ordinary Israelis massacred wholesale at a peace festival, on the street, and in their homes, Tlaib began by putting the perpetrators and their victims on equal footing: “I grieve the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day. I am determined as ever to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights, and human dignity.”

Once she had that boilerplate out of the way, Tlaib detailed what she thinks could be done to establish that gloriously just and peaceful future: “The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance.” Translation: all those dead Israelis an aghast world saw Saturday were Israel’s fault. Israel must lift the blockade, that is, allow a free flow of the latest, most sophisticated weaponry into Gaza and the West Bank. It must end the “occupation,” which would involve leaving lands to which only Israel has any actual legal right. And it must dismantle the “apartheid system,” that is, let each and every Palestinian, even ones who are armed to the teeth and screaming “Death to Israel,” enter the country without any screening whatsoever. About Hamas’ atrocities, meanwhile, Tlaib said nary a word.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mogadishu) was likewise indifferent to Israeli suffering. She tweeted on Saturday, “Reminder, Gaza doesn’t have shelters or an iron dome and to please pray for them. May peace prevail in the region and move us towards a moral awakening to care about the human suffering we are seeing. Palestinians are human beings who have been in besieged [sic] and are deserving of protection from the international community.” If any people have been besieged, it is the Israelis, but Omar could not spare a word for them.

Other leftists fell into lockstep as well. Code Pink tweeted on Sunday — the day after massacres took place all over Israel because its security measures were breached — “PALESTINE WILL BE FREE! In D.C. today, we called on Biden to stop arming apartheid and impose sanctions on Israel!” On Monday, the old leftist flagship publication, The Nation, ran a piece entitled, “Gaza Is a Nightmare Today, but We Will Not Stop Dreaming of Freedom.” The subtitle: “This war is happening for one reason: the prolonged suffering and occupation that Palestinians have endured for seven decades.”

Leftist celebrities didn’t lag behind. Adin Ross, who is identified as a “widely recognized Kick streamer,” whatever that is, and has apparently made enough money doing it to have a million dollars to give to genocidal killers, is doing just that. MEAWW (Media Entertainment Arts WorldWide) reported Monday that he “has garnered significant attention from social media users due to recent reports suggesting a potential donation of $1,000,000 to Palestine amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.” The celebrity influencer Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer, convert to Islam, and controversial misogynist who claims to reject the left primarily for its attack on masculinity but nonetheless echoes leftist talking points on Israel, is likewise sending $200,000 to the jihadis.

Whatever the intentions of Ross and Tate may be, this money will go to jihadis and be used to murder more innocent Israeli civilians.

There is no other conflict in the world where people who consider themselves to be decent human beings applaud, and willingly aid and abet, the murder of civilians. If some country invaded North Korea, home of one of the most repressive regimes on the planet, people would not be applauding the deaths of North Korean civilians. In fact, care would be taken to distinguish the people from the regime. In Israel, there are many lies about the government but in reality, it is not a violator of human rights. Yet even if it were, no one would be lamenting the deaths of Israeli civilians. The applause would continue.

What kind of sickness overtakes people that they can see what the “Palestinian” jihadis did to innocent people on Saturday and think, “I’ve got to speak out in support of the attackers,” or even worse, “I’ve got to give those people some money”?
